The story of Ten Minutes by Tractor began in 1997 with three family-owned vineyards in Main Ridge, Mornington Peninsula’s highest and coolest sub-region. The McCutcheon, Wallis, and Judd families discovered their vineyards were all just “ten minutes by tractor” apart – a name that perfectly captured their unique collaboration.
In 2003, Martin Spedding acquired the winery and has since expanded it with a new cellar door, restaurant, and four additional vineyards. What makes their wines truly exceptional is the diversity of terroir – each vineyard possesses its own unique character with different aspects, slopes, soils, altitude, and cool ocean breezes flowing from Bass Strait, Western Port, and Port Phillip.
Ten Minutes by Tractor has built their reputation on articulating the differences between their vineyards through distinctive expressions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their approach celebrates both single-vineyard bottlings and broader regional expressions, reflecting the unique characteristics of the Mornington Peninsula’s diverse microclimates and elevations.
